Patricia - That's a good point that I don't specifically state in this post. Networking is about building relationships, which is something I remind my clients and friends to do ALL of the time. Thanks for the input, and hope to "see" you again.

Relevant points Miriam. One thing to add is that people want to ALWAYS be networking, not just when they NEED something, job or otherwise.

Networking gives and gets best results when it is systematic and a regular process. If someone just networks to GET something, it isn't usually as easy or quick to get results.

Good post. You make some great points that most people
do not fully understand.

"What’s the worst thing that can happen?
Maybe you’ll encounter someone who won’t want to help you. That’s okay. Ideally, you’ll ask them if they can suggest someone else who may be able to answer some questions for you. Most of the time, you will at least be able to get a referral from someone who isn’t interested in helping! Don’t let fear or shyness get in the way of your job search."

I like how you explained that. Very helpful. Thanks.
