Ran - That is exactly the point! If you have a weakness that is related to the job, offering it as an example at an interview is not likely to land you the opportunity! If you read the rest of the article, Marci highlights the point. I do not advise my clients to outline job-related weaknesses at an interview. The assumption is that the candidate is highly qualified for the job and has no significant job related weaknesses. Thanks for visiting my blog here at Keppie Careers!

This is regarding a comment and an example posted by you in an article on yahoo -

More important than what you identify as a weakness is the part about how you’ve overcome it. Salpeter offers this example: A computer programmer might say, “Speaking in front of very large crowds really scares me, but I’ve been working on becoming a better public speaker.

For a computer programer how is public speaking related. His/ her daily job is not public speaking but intead writing programs.
When this queation is asked i think a relavent anwswer must be related to computer language / programs or skills. the interviewer is trying to understand his / her drawbacks

Great tips and very nicely written! Social networking will soon become the most effective way of building your professional career and creating a personal brand. However, one will have to invest time in learning the effectiveness of these sites and ways to use them properly.

By the way, if you are looking to make the most of your LinkedIn account, check out networking expert Jan Vermeiren's new book "How to REALLY use LinkedIn". You can find a free lite version at http://www.how-to-really-use-linkedin.com/
