GL - Thanks for stopping by. There are many opportunities for those who know how to leverage their skills. Working at a non-profit is certainly one good way!

I agree with many of the advice included in this entry.

As I tell my clients and colleagues, regardless if your work is read, disregarded or unappreciated, we cannot leave any "stone unturned" in the pursuit of our our jobsearch.

We need to continue to be pleased with the product we put out there to recruiters and organizations. Think about this as your brand. Your brand is to always represent yourself by submitting your personal best, even if only you see it for now....

As Rick Nelson sang in his classic "Garden Party," "You can't please everyone, so you gotta please yourself."......

Hang in there!

This is an area often overlooked by job seekers. I can think of no other way to build experience in areas where none exists for you. There are many many organizations out there, the UNKNOWN ones, who need any kind of help. If you want to be a manager, and lack that qualification, you can pick up the experience at a charity who critically needs your help.
Thanks Miriam for bringing this to the top of mind again,

This is such a timely posting because I am working on a proposal for a potential client that has some staff issues that are creating a STUCK atmosphere. I have been thinking about what type of approach I can take to help manage needed change. I think its about inspiring the staff to think about what motivates them as individuals that can add value to the group as a whole. That motivation and excitement can hopefully bring the group out of this STUCK situation and help them MAKE PROGRESS.

I'd love a copy of that book :)

Great post! You'll be amazed at the good things that come your way when you take the time to help someone else. I love the idea of volunteering during your job search. It gets you out networking, helping the community, and meeting people instead of sitting at home.
