Credentials

I have been advising clients regarding their career plans and writing resumes for over 14 years. I am proud to encourage, enlighten and empower job seekers and entrepreneurs for success! An accomplished writer and editor, I worked on Wall Street as a Vice President prior to earning a master’s degree from Columbia University in the City of New York, where I trained in career advising and counseling.

Well known in the industry for my highly regarded blog and sought by CNN, The New York TimesThe Wall Street Journal, Forbes.com, ABCnews.com, 11 Alive (Atlanta’s NBC affiliate), Wisconsin Public Radio and other media outlets for professional advice, I happily share insights on important and timely career search strategies. Using Twitter for the job hunt is a favorite topic, and I’m proud to be listed in a variety of “Best People to Follow on Twitter” lists for job seekers, including CNN’s list of “top 10 job tweeters you should be following” and Monster.com’s “11 for 2011 — Career Experts Who Can Help Your Job Search.”

I am the Social Media Job Search expert for Job-Hunt.org, and co-leader and founder (with colleague Jacqui Barrett-Poindexter) of the Career Collective (a group of social media savvy resume writers and career coaches).

My book, Social Networking for Career Success was published in May 2011 by Learning Express. I’m co-authoring a second book, 100 Conversations for Career Success, with Laura Labovich. It will be available in fall, 2012.

I actively participate in formal professional development activities as a Member of Career Directors International. I’ve spoken at a national conference (about Twitter for coaches, in April 2010), at BlogHer (Summer, 2010) and for a variety of companies, groups and organizations. I’ve been invited to serve as a designated blogger for the Society for Human Resource Management, Atlanta’s conference (October, 2010 and 2011) and as a featured panelist for Social Media Atlanta’s Human Resources track (November 2010) and for Digital Atlanta (November, 2011).

Before founding Keppie Careers, I headed the Career Action Center at the Rollins School of Public Health of Emory University. At Emory, I worked with an array of clients, from new professionals through experienced job seekers, and honed key skills by working with a very diverse clientele, including international students.

My clients are my best advocates. A sample of testimonials:

I count meeting Miriam as one of the 10 best things I have done for my own career. She is one of those people whose opinion counts. Not only did she help me prepare world-class job search documents and enrich my personal on-line brand, but she is also a gifted business writer who works magic with any written communication. Most importantly, Miriam has become a colleague I trust. She has a deep understanding of many industries and I consider her an expert in all social networking platforms. Miriam is always on the cutting edge, and I know she will help many job seekers get noticed.

After being out of the work force for over four years, I was lost when facing the task of updating my resume. Keppie Careers was a life-saver! We all have skills and talents; however, getting them on paper in a way that pops out to potential employers is an art. Thanks to Keppie Careers, I now have a polished, professional and very well written resume and have found the perfect job! Thank you for your outstanding service!

I’m hardly a religious person, but I must bless you for all the inspiration and support you’ve given me. What you do is very special. I hope earthly rewards will follow, because you deserve them.

“…Miriam, founder of Keppie Careers, was one of the original career experts who joined the T.A.P. team, and the advice she gave resonated with me in a way that made me stop panicking and start pushing forward. I knew I needed someone like her on my side. We began working together and she became one of my heroes (heroines?) after talking me through the differences of networking today and my next steps in reaching out to people. I can honestly say she was the catalyst in getting me outside my comfort zone to dive into Twitter, follow up with my contacts on a regular basis, and attend events I never saw myself being able to go to. I have made incredible strides in my personal and professional development because of her advice, positive energy, and motivation and I’m forever indebted to her. If you’ve been dealing with rocks and are in need of a gem, talk to her. I promise you won’t be disappointed.”
