While you must advertise your skills to employers to peak their interest, &quot;selling yourself&quot; gives the impression that you&#039;re recommending people to not negotiate with prospective employers, even though ethically they are both equal parties worthy of respect. The employer may have the money, but the worker has the service. Best to ditch &quot;selling yourself&quot; with &quot;Promoting yourself&quot;.
