Some recruiters are also to blame. The pressure to provide resumes tends to be intense and quite often they approach a candidate, get the resume and that is that. Or the candidate goes for the interview and despite meeting all requirements does not land the job. As one of my friends who used to be in Executive Search confided in me, many times the search firm already has the candidate in mind and simply sends equally strong resumes which would have one key factor missing. So someone is lucky and others lose out. It happened to me once but unknown to the search firm, I had connections within the organization who looked into the application - the actual reason for rejection was that the post had already been filled internally!
