I was at a networking event a few months ago and the woman who introduced herself to me never took her eyes off her Blackberry. She would occassionally mumble a polite &quot;uh-huh&quot; but not once did she make eye contact.

Think of your next interaction as a treasure hunt. Listen for things you may have in common with the person. Listen for interesting facts you didn&#039;t know. Listen for cues to what this person really wants to get out of the exchange and deliver.

But, really, just put your freaking phone down will ya?]]></description>
