Gary,
You're right. I've even known job seekers to ask about making themselves look LESS qualified for a job. I think anything that isn't the truth is a pile of quicksand waiting for the job seeker to step in! Thanks for commenting!

Miriam, You're absolutely right. Being honest and upfront is the best way to go. Too many job seekers build lies into their resume to cover up minor issues and really get burned when the truth comes out. We're seeing an increase in job seekers turning to diploma mills. What they don't realize is how easy this is check and how it will kill any chance of getting hired when it's discovered.

Julie -
Thanks for stopping by! I agree...I'm always suggesting that job hunters avoid red flags. Once you open up a bottle of worms, it's hard to conduct a "clean" search.

Really good advice, Miriam. I am sure you have clients who have wanted you to fudge something on their resume. I think your reference to values learned in kindergarten is so important. Whenever a client asks a question that makes me uncomfortable, I gently remind them that those are the kinds of things that create red flags and make your job search harder. I don't have to say much more and they change their mind.
