I want to mention that this is equally true for other job search correspondence, such as cover letters, thank you letters and general emails.

These types of errors are easy to miss and happen to the best of us. Case in point, years ago in a job search I accidentally wrote “Hell” instead of “Hello” in an email to a prospective employer. Thankfully the person receiving the message a) had a sense of humor and b) didn’t hold it against me.

Catching these errors ahead of time helps ensure that your communication is received in a professional manner, as well as showing demonstrated attention to detail.
