Time off can certainly give a new perspective. I find that taking time off sometimes inspires my writing. I can sit at the computer, waiting to be inspired, or I can go out, read a book or even watch a TV show that gives me just the seed of an idea I need! Thanks for your note!

With so many changes in the workplace and in certain career fields, your second point is very well taken. It may not be a jobseeker's choice, but it just may be time for a change in direction. There are ways to test the waters, too, during a job search to see if a particular field or career is for you. You've presented tough questions that if answered honestly will facilitate the job search process.

Great points, Miriam! We all tend to get caught up in circular thinking, especially if it concerns a job search where every move we make is critical. Sometimes it takes a radical change in thinking or venue to jolt us out of painful, but comfortable, routines. If creative thinking seems to have dulled, I suggest taking a "vacation" from job search. Go camping, hiking, volunteer at a food pantry, or do whatever fun thing that will get your mind totally off of the job search for awhile. When you come back to the "real" world, you'll find that creativity is now sparked again and ideas begin to percolate anew.
