You are right! Volunteering is a terrific idea, and is one of my tips in the rest of this series. It’s great for so many reasons – you help people/use your free time well, recognize your own good fortune, can learn new things and network at the same time!

With so much advice around about getting a new job through networking, revamping your resume, developing your skills, etc., people forget to look in the mirror and do an attitude check! One great way to put the pep back in the step is to volunteer to help those less fortunate. Yes, there ARE less fortunate people out there. Being around them makes you realize how much you really have.
