Hi Miriam,

It's interesting, you've provided a very nice list of services but you don't appear to have touched on the latest generation of "professional" profile services. I suggest you take a look at: http://path.to/ and http://zerply.com/

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks,

Hi Miriam,

A thoughtful post...as always.

I like the visualize.me chart as a show and tell in a face-to-face interview -- unless it shows that you're a job hopper -- and it will do that very effectively.

Beyond that, because it's such a summary, I can't see it differentiating an applicant in a positive way from all the other applicants. There's simply no substitute for conveying one's value through words (nod to Jacqui) that describe your employers, your roles, and your accomplishments.

Great post, value is the core issue. Presenting value effectively, using whatever tools are available, is the trick.

Miriam,
Spot on post. It boils down to effectively putting your value into words!

I love this snippet: " ... I’m guessing I could have the most beautiful, cutting-edge visual site, but if I couldn’t support it with content, I’d have a lot less visitors."

Though I sometimes knit a tasteful chart or graph into client resumes, I selectively do so, and not at the expense of content. Sometimes it breaks up text; as well, it can add 'value' visually to help a reader quickly grasp the candidate's compelling results before (or after) diving into the pithy story.

Bottom line: WORDS first (as you said, "telling a story that is as appealing and attractive as a pretty chart" ... )

Well done; a thoughtful post.
