Gayle - I agree. It is great that people have a choice today about how to do their best networking! Thanks for your comment!

Dorlee - Thanks for your nice note. I have always thought that introverts had a great advantage when it came to networking. People LOVE a good listener, and I think listening is a skill many introverts develop. Enjoying the process is important, but engaging is key!

Excellent article Miriam! The great thing about using social media such as Facebook and Twitter is that you can be your shy and introverted self and not have to put yourself "out there" physically (at least for a while). These tools will allow a person to form relationships with people without all the awkwardness and feel more comfortable when the eventual meeting takes place. They are also excellent ways to shrug off feelings of fear and insecurity as the more you know about people, the more you realize that we all suffer anxieties, fears and concerns. That in itself can take the angst out of networking!

Hi Miriam,

Thanks for this helpful advice. Being a bit of an introvert myself, I am relieved to hear that introverts are not at a disadvantage with regards to networking.

I think these 3 tips that you have shared are great ways to network. It is much more fun to make the effort in venues in which one feels comfortable. By being given permission to seek out those that one enjoys most (as opposed to feeling obligated to attend a "must network list"), one can actually enjoy the process regardless of how extroverted one is.

Thanks again,
Dorlee
