— That is very true. A lot of applicants just apply for the job because the company is hiring and they need a job. When asked about the company, they don’t even know what does the company do, the companies product. I have an HR friend and she said that this is one of the reason that they have to turn down the applicants even if it is qualified because they need someone that will be loyal to the company and will share their vision. There is no harm in doing a little research and let them know that you are really interested.

Miriam, thanks for the input from this panel. This is really important for job seekers & I’m particularly interested in the importance of volunteer and explaining extended gaps from paid employment: those were particularly valuable, I thought.
